about

Although I have been busy stitching together the latest version of Whistle Jacket, here’s a little collection from Whistle Jacket’s past. This one is called Pop Hits 2001-2014. Despite the band never really being popular nor ever having “hits”, this release highlights our more up tempo songs, ones that have a more pop sound, and ones that fall in or near the 2:00 minute range which seems to be the general staple/tradition of pop music. However, there are three songs that go into the three minute range and two that are in the one minute range. Just about all of the songs are from our first five recordings though two songs are previously unreleased numbers from the Adam and Ben Simon era of Whistle Jacket. There were no songs from Hold Me While I Fall Apart because those songs are simply too sad for this recording. One song, Compliment, has a new guitar overdub and Thrift Store Dreamer, a new fade out.
Pop Hits 2001-2014 is about the joy of pop music; hopefully it is the kind of recording that you can play in your car loud with the windows open during these remaining weeks of summer. And it’s free for now! In putting this collection together, I was reminded of the long list of musicians who have been part of the Whistle Jacket experience over the past 14 years. I can't thank you enough Christopher Hart, Douglas J Sisko, Rod Moody, Daniel Mickus, Matt Jugenheimer, Ben Simon, Adam Jacob Simon, Erin M Hasley, Judy Feldmann, Spenser Gralla, Noah Bond, David Coscia, Melissa John, Patrick Zbyszewski, Chloe Miller, Elisabeth Craft, Matt Rivero, and Doug Batchelder! The cover photo for Pop Hits 2001-2014 was taken by Marieke Van Damme on what I think was the end of a New Year’s Eve Party! Thanks Marieke for providing the photo and also thanks to Dave Coscia for once again providing his graphic design abilities to help with another Whistle Jacket release! Lastly, hoping to put out an album of new Whistle Jacket material in the near future so stay tuned…
